Oh my excitement!! Yesterday I had an out of body experience when checking out the new NYX stands at Boots Meadowhall. I’ve long been a NYX fan but for a number of years have had sate my appetite by buying on line. For a brief time NYX was stocked in some Next stories, but to be honest it was a very poor selection of goods. When NYX became available on Boots online I made quite a number of purchases. However the colour swatches online were very poor and I often ended up with colours that were not what I wanted. On Instagram it was announced that NYX was going to be stocked in store at Boots Meadowhall. My excitement could not be contained and off I rushed to the store as soon as I could!
Wow!! That’s all I can say. The NYX display is HUGE! With what appears to be every single product. The eyeshadow section is huge, with lipsticks having an equal amount of space.
What NYX items did I purchase?
There were a few items on my list so I made a beeline to the eyeshadow section first and picked up a NYX Avant Pop eyeshadow palette in Nouveau Chic. I have seen loads of positive reviews of these palettes on YouTube so have wanted to pick one up for a while. I’ve used this today, and so far I like. the colours are well pigmented and bend easily.
I also picked up 3 singles to put inZ-palette. I’m a fan of Makeup Geek eyeshadow but the NYX single pans come in at £2.50, with a huge of colours. I wanted to see how these perform in contrast to the Makeup Geek and Morphe singles.
The NYX Prismatic eye shadows are some of the most pigmented shiny eyeshadow so have ever used, so I picked another up in the girl talk shade. There were a number of other colours that I’ve added to my wish list.
I also picked up the NYX Eyeshadow Base in white. Being really pale I often find skin toned bases too dark. I also find a number of eyeshadow bases give me sore, dry and flaky eyelids. Not great for smooth eyeshadow application.
Continuing with eyes I picked up a NYX Tame and Frame Tinted Brow Pomade. My favourite product of this type is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse. Tarte now ship to the UK from their website but I wanted to see if the NYX would be a cheaper alternative. I have tried the Freedom Makeup brow pomade, but I’ll be honest and say that I don’t like it. So what do I think of this NYX brow pomade? To keep my brows in place I also purchased the NYX Control Freak clear eyebrow gel.
I am a huge fan of NYX liquid lipsticks, they provide an affordable alternative to other more expensive brands. Interestingly they have a number of matte liquid lipstick formulas. The ever popular Soft Matte Lip Cream are some of my favourites, not as long lasting as, for example Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks, but I really like theses lipsticks. I have however, got all the colours I would wear in this formula. The same going for NYX liquid suede formula. Instead today I picked up 2 more colours of the NYX Lip Lingerie lipsticks. I’d previously bought 3 online, but the swatches are not anything like the actually products. NYX Lip Lingerie wear well on the lips, and aren’t too drying.
For the face I purchased the NYX HD concealer. I am forever on the look out for a light enough shade, and the 01 shade looked fairly light in comparison to other drug store brands. I also picked up the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation, another product I have seen lots of positive reviews about.
I am obsessed with primers so I purchased the NYX Angel Veil primer. I have seen various reviews that purport this to be a dupe for the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, fingers crossed this will be a cheaper alternative!
