I purchased the Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector after watching one of my favourite YouTuber Mrs Ginger who had really loved the product. I’m often on the lookout for something that will make the pores on my cheeks look a little less visible. I’ve used the Benefit The Porefessional for a long time, but find that the effect doesn’t last as long as I would like. I’ve also tried a plethora of other primers and foundations but not found anything as yet that I would consider my holy grail.
So, after watching reviews on Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector I thought that this foundation/pore minimiser hybrid sounded very interesting. With that off I went to Marks and Spencers, as this is where Stila can be bought in store in the UK. Just as an FYI Stila has a good website, they often have really good sales so it’s a good idea to sign up if you enjoy their products.
As a product Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector is supposed to provide natural matte coverage. Stila proclaim this “looks like skin”. I always find this to be a bold statement as I’ve yet to find any foundation that looks like skin! Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector is also supposed to smooth skin and blur imperfections and pores. As a product it can be worn alone over other foundations.
There appear to only be 5 shades in this product, which is not a breath shade selection, however I did find the lightest shade ok for my pale skin with cool undertones.
What do I think about Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector?
I initially tried Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector over a foundation but found it left my face looking far too cakey. I then tried on its own, which looked OK, but didn’t have quite enough coverage for me. The best way I have found to apply Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector is over a BB cream using a flat top buffer brush. This gives more coverage than the BB cream on its own, with the added bonus of a more matte appearance.
Unfortunately I have found that no matter how I apply Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector it doesn’t wear great, and tends to look quite cakey by the end of the day.
So, my final thoughts on this are that its ok. Unfortunately the way it wears throughout the day let it down. There is nothing worse than going out in the morning and makeup looking great, to then glimpse in a mirror a few hours later to see a cakey mess!
