I often find it difficult to see if skin care makes a visible difference on my skin. Part of the reason is because I am impatient but I think mostly it’s because it’s very easy to be critical of my own skin. Let’s be honest, you are always your own strongest critic.
This year one on my personal goals that I set was to step up my skincare regime, signs of ageing are becoming more apparent and rationally I know that this will happen but I do want to try and make the best of my skin. With this is mind one of the substances that I knew is good for your skin is vitamin c. As many other people are, I’m on a budget and didn’t want to go all out spending the big bucks to then be disappointed.
On a mad dash round Boots I happened upon the skin care section, looking at the offers I quickly gazed upon the Super Facialist by Una Brennan. I’d previously considered purchasing the Vitamin C+ Brighten Glow Boost Skin Serum, and now it was on offer what was there to lose?
My first impressions of this serum was just how strong the orange fragrant was. If you don’t like the smell of oranges then this is definitely not for you! Luckily the smell does seem to dissipate fairly quickly, and once I had the rest of my creams and make up on I didn’t notice it.
Texture wise this is a non greasy, lightweight serum. Those with Oily and combination skin may enjoy this as it sinks into the skin really quickly, leaving a really clean feel. The serum itself contains vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and a “skin lightening algae extract”. Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid are great for skin, and I was pleasantly surprised that even from the first use my skin did look brighter. I have used the serum every morning religiously for 3 weeks as recommended on the packaging, and now I’m ready to make my final thoughts.
So, what are the claims made by this product? The superfacialist.co.uk website states that this product will ” bring a new radiance and clarity to skin”. This is a claim that I can agree with, since using the serum I’ve been having the best skin days I’ve had in a long time! The serum is also stated to “With regular use skin appears smoother, more radiant and youthful looking”. So smoother? Yes! Radiant? Yes! Youthful looking? Hmm! As the song goes “2 out of 3 ain’t bad”.
The serum does seem to have smoothed out dome of the texture in my skin, and dare I say it, my pores look less noticeable too. Bonus! All in all I am very happy this new addition to my skin regime, and I definitely wish that I’d started using this earlier. I’m now very intrigued about other vitamin c serums and will more than likely try some others in order to compare.
